The year has been flying past so fast. I know that as you get older the time just goes faster and faster. When you are a child it takes forever for Christmas and birthdays to arrive but at my age they seem to come very fast. One is just over when it's time for another.
I did sewing today with Christmas material. Well, I cut out things from Christmas material. I sewed two small shopping type bags with snowman material. It comes in the same season though. I'm thinking these two snowman bags might be Christmas presents for those two little girls next door. I gave them Halloween bags with sugar cookies in them. I sure did get a lot of hugs out of that. They even made me a hand made Thank You card. They were very pleased with themselves.
It rained today and wasn't all that warm but it's supposed to be low 50's tonight so I didn't cover my plants. I hope I didn't make a mistake but if I did I will live with it. No crying over spilt milk!

We went on a small trip on Sunday to visit friends and go to church with them. We decided to "stay over" one day and run to a greenhouse supply place in Indiana before coming home. We picked up 6 pack growing containers to make "garden starter" packs or for wave petunias or geraniums...whatever suits us for the season, I guess. We found a few other things that I hadn't planned on getting but snagged them anyway. A garden scraper for weeding, this has a sharp blade that scrapes the weeds from their roots more efficiently than a hoe. Then I saw canning flats so I picked up 10 packs of those, since I hadn't seen them for $1.69 in many a moons. I found a bottle of Pansy fertilizer and since we are growing pansies this year...what a good investment. Then back home. that took 3 hours. wood needed brought in for the fire, dinner needed to be made, the garage needed cleaned up from extracting honey and making cider, so those tools and implements got put away for the season, the crates from apples washed and stacked.... well now, my day is about done. Night.

Spent the day at the lottie doing more "winterizing" today...in-between the rain showers. I covered more plots with green manure and flower garden debris.

Came home and prepared for tonight's Sint Maarten activities. it is as close as we get to Halloween here.

The bands of children come to your door, all dressed-up in spooky costumes and carrying a small lantern and then must sing one of the typical St. Maarten songs. After that they get a little piece of candy in their sack. It is great fun for kids.
Time to go on one ear now...G'nite.

The sun was shining bright today. It got up to 70 degrees. I checked on my tomatoes and they are still growing and looking good. It's supposed to be 52 degrees tonight so I didn't cover them. But, tomorrow is supposed to be only in 60's and down to 30's at night so they will get covered tomorrow night and Wednesday night and Thursday night. I'll have to check how many days after that. It will probably become my evening chore. I filled the bird feeders today. Yesterday we had what looked like a whole flock of birds. Maybe they were migrating. They weren't back today. But, they have to eat, too.
I walked my half mile this morning and then dr and I walked a bit this afternoon to stretch my legs after sewing for about three hours. Have a good night now and pleasant dreams.

Golly gee! It's been a while since I posted on here. It was really cold on Tuesday and Wednesday. I covered my tomatoes really well. It got down to 26 on Tuesday and 20 on Wednesday and I lost most of the flowers but I had covered my tomatoes. I lost three little ones but the larger ones survived. Now, it's been in the 70's since Thursday and tonight it is supposed to be in upper 60's and tomorrow it will be 84 degrees. What's with this weather anyway? Up, down, up, down. How will things know when to grow and when to give up?
No more zinnias and no more moon flowers. I'll have to plant more next year. I'm thinking I'll mostly plant flowers next year. I'm getting too decrepit to garden too much. I did pull some dead grass today to feed to our friendly neighborhood horses. They will come right up to the fence and eat out of your hands. The kids next door were riding one of them today. Three kids bareback on one horse. But they were having fun and I think the horse was too. You all have a pleasant evening.
