Oh yes @Odif that is a better view. It looks like you have Abelia grandiflora there. There are a few varieties, but mine flower in the late summer I cut them right back to shape after they finish flowering.
@Tetters I am not100% convinced as the leaves are not the same. They are a light green and velvety. The leaves are heart shaped like a lilac. The leaves are not shiny. The plant has a strong smell.
If it is not an Abelia, the only other flower I can think of at the moment is the Jasmine, but I am not aware of one like that which is a shrub - I've been trying to think of all those I propagated at the nursery.... I will keep thinking. I made a mistake on the Abelia flowering time by the way. They are starting to flower now, and they keep going all summer. It is the bracts after flowering that seem to stand out so well to me as their colour is just a shade deeper and they seem even more outstanding to me at that time of year.
Spotting the houpou on the track is a really fun start to your day at the park. Reminds me of the time we visited one of the top amusement parks in US. Amidst the hustle and bustle, we stumbled upon unexpected sights that added to the excitement of the day. It's these little moments of surprise and discovery that make visiting amusement parks so memorable.
