    Whether man or beast it is difficult to leave a home to rising water. The weather patterns have us all in a tither. I hope it stops raining soon. We could use some sunshine to lift out hearts and spirits.

    Philip, this looks even worse than last year. Am I remembering correctly? I will hope for drier days for you, and please do take care of your back & your heart.

    Hi Folks,..no let up with the bad weather,..today we had snow and hailstones,..more rain expected with gale force winds.

    Hi Cayuga Morning,..yes last year was certainly a mild version of the present conditions as we have had rain for the most part of 8 weeks,..the usual procedure is for our sluice gates to release water from the higher levels down to the lower level and so forth all the way down the river Shannon and its lakes into the sea,..the problem is that the very lower levels are flooded including some Cities,..at present most of the sluice gates are breached all the way to the sea so its a build up of water levels,..we may be having it bad here but in England we see that London is being flooded at present as the River Thames has burst its banks with some 1000 homes flooded today and still more rain due there,..the Army are out in force there and in most parts of England,..its stated it could be next May before it all clears up.

    Hi Frank,..i was pleased to see by your post that your parents are not in turmoil.

    ===================================================

    Hi S-H,..yes the polluted water is certainly going to cause problems as just about everything you can imagine is floating in the flooded areas,..i will be drinking bottled water to be on the safe side.

    ===================================================

    I have had my three days rest and boy did i need it,..the aches took over after 24 hours,..had i kept going i would not have suffered as much but you have to stop sometime,..anyway i am out of the loop now unless the town starts flooding within the next few days.

    I guess I need to watch something besides our local news station. So sorry to hear of all the destruction. I certainly know how devastating too much water can be. Stay safe... AND warm.

    Hi Cheryl,..funny you should say that as i have being looking at CNN News USA to see how much coverage they give on the floods this side of the pond and they do give good weather coverage global wise,..your east coast seems to be in for a lot of snow at present,..as of course other parts of the USA are.

    Stay safe Phillip.I saw that red warning for your part of the world and Wales earlier today.Its pretty wild here and we're 60 or more miles inland and thankfully nowhere near rivers.On days like today I wish we did not have bay windows...

    Hi Karin,..yes a Red Alert,..i never remember having one before so they anticipate a danger to life.

    I was thinking about you yesterday and wondering about what it was like where you are located,..i am glad to see you are nowhere near rivers,..true about bay windows,..my back door and window are combined glass 9ft wide but thankfully out of the wind force however things do fly around in the wind so knock on wood,.. :rolleyes: .

    There will be a slight lull tomorrow before the next gale due on Friday,..at present its gale force with heavy rain and frost with snow tonight,..great variety,..you keep safe as well.

    News up to date.

    Philip, I watched those videos you attached and it looks truly awful. I hope your home fairs okay through the latest storm and I sure hope this horrible winter abates for you.

    Hi Cayuga Morning,..its dead calm just now,..could be the eye of the storm or we are just lucky that perhaps its passed over,..but heading east towards England which is not what they need just now,..this side of the pond reminds me of how it looked in New Orleans,..nothing amiss with my house or even the garden as i am more or less surrounded by high walls.

    I've been reading about the flooding in the English newspapers, and our TV channels have sent updates, but your photos made me want to cry. Please, please be careful!

    Best of luck to you over there Philip! I haven't been Stewing much lately, and have missed your news. So sorry. The pictures are a little frightening, so much water! Your area is just saturated, while others are parched. it is so strange, this weather of out world. Do take care, I sure hope it dries up for you soon.
