    Thanks for your comments, Tooty. Yes, that sweet corn syrup is awfully sweet. It couldn't be good for a person, could it? :)

    what a fun trip sjoerd! all that great food and sugary treats.

    i thought Baklava had some spinache in it? must be another gree/turkish treat i'm thinking of?

    hubby was staioned in Turkey in the Air Force many many many moons ago and has always talked about the great market places all around. i'll have to show him your pics and link.

    i think i would love to be there and take it all in. thanks for sharing sjoerd!

    You could have been thinking of spanakopita. It is a small folded envelope of filo dough filled with spinach. Tasty, I might add.
    I have never heard of baklava having spinach in it. The pistachio nuts make it green though.
