Hi AAnightowl,..and Calvinjane, That river is the Shannon river,..its the largest river in Ireland and passes about 200 yards from my house,..the nearest Castle is just short of that by about 50 yards,..this is one of King John's Castles,..built in around 1210,..but on a foundation of another castle built around 1129.
