In the 1960's i was posted to Cyprus,..then went to Lebanon and ended up in the Gaza Strip,..one of the many places i managed to see was the Red Rose City Of Petra,..in Jordan,..its a place to see before you die as they say,..only discovered in the 1800's yet it remained there hidden through a small gorge for hundreds of years,..the video below will give you an idea of how it really looks,..like a red rose. Just think how many people it took to make these .And to last this many years. Wish they could make things last now.
Carving those buildings from the actual cliff face was i marvelous feat. ---------------------------------------------------- Here is another place of great interest from the same location,..on the day we were in this area i opted to go for a swim in the Dead Sea,..a bad mistake as i never got to see Masada. Masada. ------- Build around 37-4BC,..and hardly touched to this day,..build on a great height,..and defended during a siege by the people living there against the might of the roman army,..in the end all but two of the 960 men women and children committed suicide rather than be taken alive.
