Thank you for your thoughts Daisybeans. I must say your Kniphofia looks really good. I have one in another part of the garden which needs splitting up so may divide it and try a root on my dry bed. Not sure I am familiar with Bee Balm. Have you got a photo of that one?
Bee Balm (Monarda... you might know it by its' real name which I had forgotten when I posted the last reply). I had it growing in another part of the yard and it spread quite a lot so beware of that if your spot is very small. It did well in the dry corner bed too. Beautiful plants Mary Ann.I tried one kind of Bee Balm and I think it was to small to fight the heat here.I'm going to buy a larger one this year if I can find one.
Thanks guys. Maybe Mondarda will be a good choice for you too GG. Glenda I'll bet if you can get one through one season it would be fine. Maybe the heat would keep it from spreading all over the place too. The one that I had was REALLY strong by the 2nd season and I do have to keep it from overtaking other things. But I do like it a lot -- it's Dr Suessical. Yesterday, I was cleaning the garage and scraping the clover off of the driveway (I know, crazy...) and mulching a bed and stuff like that.... And a honey bee followed me all day! I named it Sjoerd! HA!!! What do you think of that!

The word, "plaats" refers to the place that one should place the plants. zon--sunny droog--dry doorlatend--free draining vocht--moisture rijk--rich soil schaduw--shadow halfschaduw--half shadow hoog--height pot--container ...and so forth, these are some words that might help. I think that most of these plants are suitable for dry beds. Exceptions you can notice next to the word, "plaats", which means 'where to place the plant'. Just use the little list of translated words above. I know this is awkward, but as I said, I will be willing to help you in any way. It's fun looking at this catalog esp with your word list. Sjoerd, where would I find the bloom time on the entries? Also, if there is an icon showing a knife,fork and spoon, does that indicate that the plant is edible?
Hallo Daisybees, To find the blooming time look for the little words in purple that say, "van" and "tot". These words mean 'from' and 'to/until'. Yes, the silverware mean that it is edible. The sentence that says, "Maar bovendien is het een heerlijk keukenkruid tegelijk." means, 'But additionally, it is a delicious kitchen herb as well'. Is it as clear as mud?
