Isn't it a shame that you find wonderful plants to love only to have someone steal them. I sometimes say a little prayer that no one steals from my garden. It is so invasive on a private relationship between plant and the planter. People just view it as something that they want to have and think of how much meaning it may have for the owner. kAnd distroying a visual display that you are allowing others to have for free shows the greed of the flesh in my mind. Some people never get enough of a good thing and become criminal about their desires.

Well, I can't imagine what they are thinking. Being greedy is a no-no in my book, but obviously not everybody thinks like that.

Those are just plain NASTY BAD people who do not care. They realy make me :scheming: If they really took some time to get to know the gardener, they will find out that gardeners are sharing people. I mean all it takes is just to ask.
That kind of theft happens here all the time as well and I sure am glad my my dogs that act as a great deterrent. Apart from that I have my property walled-in as well. I had to do it that way because when I moved in here a few years ago, my plants were also stolen twice within the space of one month. and what was more my German Shepherd was a little pup then, they would have stolen her too if I reared her to be an outside dog. It is like D2D says - you "grow" and "nurture" a relationship with your garden and for someone to just violate it is just not right.
I hope you locate the culprits and expose them for what they are.

Stealing an animal is even worse than nicking a plant. Horrible people! I met an old gardening friend at the shop today. She told me she had bought some fairly common little plants last spring, and a group from the gardening club had visited later that week. Two of those plants had suddenly vanished, there were only a couple of holes in the ground where they had been. Seems like we've got an escalating problem here.

    Droopy...

I have a camera on my shed that shows both of our doors in the back yard..That way I can watch to see if the dogs are ready to come in the house while I am on the computer. I never thought about it for watching for flower thieves...our thief is the rabbit ....once the snow melts down I am sure he will hit everything again. Why do you have to do paper work...your area doesn't allow cameras? I never asked...I used to use it at our other larger home to see who was at the door..Good Luck.

All surveillance camera application will need approval from the government, and there are very strict rules connected to the use.

I've never had that happen. Maybe because my plants aren't so nice :D
Now on a more Serious note. Anyone that just think they have the rite to take are brain died. Sorry for everyones loss.
glendann that's so wrong! As I was reading I thought to go and give a peace of my mind to the neighbor. Let them know how ill your Mom was. Then when I read they new I was speech less. I would gladly give seeds, cuttings to anyone who asks. Why don't they do that? This way everyone can be good neighbor's meeting each other and sharing and watching out for one another. O I could just keep going on and on.

I fully understand how you feel, Gizmo. People helping themselves probably have no understanding for the amount of work and thought that might have gone into a garden. They just want something that looks nice. Or they are greedy collectors with no patience.

How awful people can be. What happened to asking nicely? Most gardeners are more than willing to share. In this part of the country plant thieves would worry about being SHOT.

Maybe my husband can fix the rocking chair, and I can sit outside with my shotgun all night? Would save me a lot of installation work. :D
