Ta Logan First Calandrina flowers are opening, hover flies love them. Rebutia fabrisii have just started too
First flowers on the Peanut Cactus today, they'll flower for a week or so and then have another flush a bit later First Gymnocalicium opened too.. And the Copiapoa, they're well camoflaged against grazing Guanacos in habitat
You have some real beauties in that cactus house of yours! Like Eileen I'm also glad you live in Kent. Best of luck with your sales! When I was a child I managed to mind cacti and get them to bloom. I've got a few cacti we've had for 20+ years but I've given up bringing in new ones. They don't like me. Not even the "everybody-can-grow-this"-cacti want to live with me. The nurseries and florists around here haven't got a good selection of cacti. I've been in love with the Gymnocalicium for years, and the Astrophytum too. They're probably better off somewhere else than here. Another annoying thing is that the last cacti I bought were suddenly full of that fuzzy little pest Pseudococcidae, and it infected a succulent we got from a man who went out of time a few years ago. I barely managed to save some pieces of the succulent, and I'm still checking it every other day. The cacti went in the garbage and I haven't dared buy any since.
Ta Droopy It's a good time of year when they start to flower Mealybugs can be a nightmare, they can even live inside the plant I put new plants into quarantine for a few weeks to check for them. Got some today and found one hiding in the roots when I re potted it I spray with Neem oil as it stops the bugggers breeding Captain Neem Oil usually gives me a hand in his Sou Wester
