I found a few more. As you can see we do not have any really large butterflies like the ones in north america, but we are quite pleased when we see one of our native ones.
I've never seen a butterfly like that before last summer either. It was very big and lovely. It hitched a ride on my finger. We had to get it out of the camper: The blue flower is a Gentiana makinoi. It's tall, about 70-80 cm, likes acid soil and needs support.
Thanks for the foto AND the flower name. It sounds like a good one for my garden. I'll see if T&M have it. How did you get that butterfly to land on your finger like that...sugar water or is it your disposition? chuckle
I love the bees....the other day I tried to download all my bee and bug pictures and photobucket was just so slow that I gave up. I will try it again this week. Yours are so much closer than mine, I wish I had your camera....thanks for sharing... I love all the butterflys too....they are gorgeous...
Hi Sherry... Did you try the "Bulk Uploader" on photo bucket. That works very quickly as opposed to the normal uploader. Can't wait to see your fotos.
All these bees and butterflies are just wonderful. I just wished I had a camera last spring when a yellow butterfly flu into my greenhouse twice within 2 hours time. It was so pretty. I'm going to have to be ready this spring with my new camera. Everyone's pictures are just great.
Oh this is sooo Beautiful Thank you all for these piccies. Simply making me feel as if I am in the garden and enjoying all the bees, flutterbyes and blooms. (My daughter used to call butterflies flutterbyes when she was little. - I guess the name stuck.
