Great display of show there. The barn on the hill will begin looking good with all the snow. I'll bet that you played just as hard in the snow as your little furry mates. Y'know Bunkie--I never get tired of seeing deer. The foto's that you placed in the posting look really good standing at a distance in the hazy snow.
thanks sjoerd! the deer around here are amazing this year. they always stick around our place and have their babies. they trust the dogs for some reason. but, i've never been able to walk right up to them before. when sammy and i are putting the ducks and goats to bed at night, the deer come around in the orchard. when we're finished, sammy and i go to the orchard to check them out. usually sammy is ahead of me, and those deer tease him endlessly. he barks at them, then one at a time, they each 'fake' charge him, stomp their feet at him. so funny to see. i think it's cause he was brought up with a mom and baby deer on the back 20 last year. he'd play with the baby when hubs took tractor trips back there.
I was going to say that looked like supper tonight...but then I noticed the one looked way too large to be a deer.... Cool. We don't have elk here. thanks for sharing that Bunkie.
Hey Bunkie, Hope you're staying warm. The Elk really make me lonesome for our family cabin in Colorado. We always have Elk roaming around, and they are cool to see.
they always make a trek down to the river in the spring, and back up in the fall. they were very late this year. also, there usually 40 plus of them. only counted maybe 18. here we go again... orchard... front porch... tractor...someday we'll have a shed to keep this in, out of the snow... even sammy's buried... cleaning duck path... ducks buried... liz helping dig out duck pens... duck feeder on left buried.... see the little chicadees, bottom middle and top right...they are in huge numbers here this year and have discovered the duck feeder...i think our big ole ducks are scared of them... SJEORD...notice all the willow branches i will have to work with soon... ducks' feeder cleaned out and path to the pond dug... YAY roof rake... louise and thelma waiting for us to clean the snow off their alfalfa bale finally... i bet you're all wondering where pete was today...he was trying his hand...er...paw at making a snowman... everyone was pretty tuckered out by the end of the day...
if anyone has some spare sun, we'd sure appreciate it here...now! we've been in a thick fog for weeks, with just 2 days of sun! one day the sun warmed us up to 45 in the shade!!! it was heavenly! don't ever remember having so much fog during winter, with temps in the 20's (F). it's like freezing ice on your face...the trees are covered too. maybe we'll get a February Thaw? we missed the January one!
Wow, that is a lot of snow Bunkie! We have some, but not that much nor am I envious of what you have there. Ours is bad enough and I only have to go out and do rabbits and chickens in it...and take the dog out. The neighbor brings her dog down and we let them play together in the chicken yard after we put the girls all away... what we have is enough for me.
You have an enormous amount of snow there, Bunkie. Blimey! I am bracing myself as we have more bad weather forecast. You won't know what to do with yourself when you get a roof over that area. hahaha. Yes...look at all them lovely willer switches!--You're gonna have fun soon.
That is so darn clever, Bunkie! Yes, we got snow, and lots of it! It is beginning to melt now and today I will be staying inside and making bee frames and if there's time, I shall melt-in some wax foundations.
