The ducks will enjoy more light but perhaps less insects to scoff,..hope your storm doesn't do any damage at your place,..we had our first storm today,..but only 50 mph wind thankfully.

Things are really looking good there.
What type of melon is that wrinkly-skinned one?

Thanks Sjoerd. I'll have to look it up. I grew all different kinds this year. I'm trying to create a 'landrace' for our area and weather. I learned about 'landrace' seeds thru this guy and his blog on Mother Earth... fascinating...

We woke up to our first snow this morning...and it's still coming down!

    Thank you,

I know Jerry. Isn't it interesting? It makes sense to collect seed from your best plant producers for your area, right?

    SNOOOOOW?!! Awk!
What the heck is going on there? I can't believe my eyes. I'm not ready for snow yet...
    The ducks look unphased.

Thanks for that link, Bunkie. That is an interesting concept isn't it? It makes sense to me. There is something Darwinian in its philosophy.

Hi Bunkie, The ducks don't seem to mind the snow.
I had over an inch of cold rain yesterday, which was welcome moisture... but you guys keep the snow there OK? ;)

Deer in our orchard yesterday. They come down every morning and evening to eat the wind-fall apples...and to play with Sammy...

I really enjoy seeing the wildlife on and around your place. Those deer look nice enough to pet. chuckle. I guess that they clean-up any fallen apples that may still be edible.
