running down the road to the next catch basin that is already filled to capacity from the ravine behind our house

the overflow from the ravine that the catch basins can't carry. If you look closely I just caught the very beginning of the process, it is just arriving at the end of the garage and farther down is the previous picture... the catch basin at the end of this yard (out at the road) is the water coming from the ravine behind our house.

This is back by the shop...

This is a driveway back to the catch basin. It is eroded and all of the washed out stone is down in the neighbors yard.

I have more pictures, but I need to go to bed.

Carolyn, what an awful situation, I hope it stops soon and dries out so you can get back to some resemblance of normal. When you mentioned the River Styx I was thinking the Egyptian river between the living and the dead. Then I looked at the satellite picture and found River Styx Road. Still the analogy between living plants and being washed to their doom seems to fit. Will the season be too short to recover the lost growing time?

We'll be okay. I still have plenty left to replant with. Thanks for the thoughts Barb and Ronni! I appreciate it.

    Jerry,
yes...river styx runs alive and well 1/2 mile from home. River Styx road is 1/2 mile to the west of us and the River Styx is 1/2 mile to the east of us and River Styx the "village" is 1 mile-ish to the north of us...it consists of a corner market for beer, ice cream and lottery tickets.
