Do you think the concrete pedestals they sell in the stores would be good enough? I don't plan on making a giant one like Carolyn's... maybe just use a leaf about 1 to 1.5 feet?

I'm not sure Cheryl. I would be afraid they would fall over. I'm thinking of using some bricks stacked in a square or building a small wooden trellis type base and planting something that would cover trellis part. That will be a spring project for me.

Donna--Your birdbaths have come out wonderfully! Your friends & family will undoubtedly be very pleased. I hope you will keep one for yourself.

Re using a pedestal or not using one, I bought one of these leaf bird baths, & I have it sitting on the ground 1/2 under a shrub. The birds love it.

Donna, You did a fantastic job. Yours look so much smoother than mine, but I probably used different materials...whatever was available. I sure hope your recipients appreciate them as much we think they ought to.

Hey Donna... how did you get the edges so nice and smooth? I tried making one, just flipped it over and my edges are ugly and rough. I want to try again. Please help.
Also... did you put the concrete all the way to the edge of the leaf or not?

Cheryl, I researched stepping stones. Two inches thick is good. Check out The Mold Store.
