Do you think the concrete pedestals they sell in the stores would be good enough? I don't plan on making a giant one like Carolyn's... maybe just use a leaf about 1 to 1.5 feet?
I'm not sure Cheryl. I would be afraid they would fall over. I'm thinking of using some bricks stacked in a square or building a small wooden trellis type base and planting something that would cover trellis part. That will be a spring project for me.
Wow, this is the first time I have seen them and they are amazing! What a lovely idea for a present, wish I was getting one
Donna--Your birdbaths have come out wonderfully! Your friends & family will undoubtedly be very pleased. I hope you will keep one for yourself. Re using a pedestal or not using one, I bought one of these leaf bird baths, & I have it sitting on the ground 1/2 under a shrub. The birds love it.
Very impressive finish Donna,..the paint finish really brings up the leaf shape,..i imagine everyone planning on making one,..or several,..great idea for a Christmas present for anyone with a garden.
Donna, You did a fantastic job. Yours look so much smoother than mine, but I probably used different materials...whatever was available. I sure hope your recipients appreciate them as much we think they ought to.
Hey Donna... how did you get the edges so nice and smooth? I tried making one, just flipped it over and my edges are ugly and rough. I want to try again. Please help. Also... did you put the concrete all the way to the edge of the leaf or not?
Have to show this to my DH. He asked other day what I wanted for our 43th end of the month. would need to put ours up high-cats.
