I have the flu. I did get my flu shot, but still got sick, although perhaps it isn't as bad as it would have been. Thanks for posting that vid mate. I called the Bride in to watch. She remembers you and your vids. She finds it cool that you are so handy with compi's.
Sjoerd, I have only had the flu once in my life and I couldn't believe how sick I was. I hope you get better soon.
Thanks a mil Cayu. I have had the flu a couple of times and it is never a nice experience. My "flu" is improving and so now I can support the Bride as it is developing in her. We were set to go see a film on this coming tuesday with some friends, but she is going to back out because when she needs to cough, she cannot hold it in...and a cinema is not the place for that sort of interruption. I have to find someone to take with me now or else I would loose the money for the ticket that has been bought. The film is showing in the cinema that shows lots of foreign films. Actually most films shown here are foreign. The American foreign films have under-titling, but we can understand those. The Icelandic, Danish, Chech and so forth luckily have the under-titles.
You raise an interesting point there Sjoerd; not the flu which I cannot ever remember suffering from, but sub titles on video media. Both my wife and I have visual impairment which means we have great difficulty trying to read the sub titles before they disappear from the screen. We recently had a drama series on TV which was in English but some leading characters were Japanese and their dialogue was sub titled in, too small to read, white text. Why can sub titles not be done away with altogether and the dialogue dubbed into the local viewing language. I can get Alexa to talk to me in French, German or whatever, so what's the problem?
You ask an interesting question, Rad. In fact the Germans almost always do that. They have voice actors and their voices are dubbed-in for most films that are foreign for them. I will probably also have visual problems one day. I'm not looking forward to that , I can tell you right now. No, but I can imagine the probs that you and your Bride may have. My mum for instance had macular degeneration and that did not turn out well at all. Well, I mean to say that she had to get a special type of screen and so forth to read e-mails. I hope that your vision will stay with you guys for a long time.
@Sjoerd Cheers mate We both have AMD and have injections in the affected eyes and I have lost one eye with glaucoma......But.....there are many worse off so we count our blessings.....
I am sorry to hear that, Rad. Having said that, it is true that there are those that are worse off. Still, your degree of compromised vision is still a pain to deal with I am sure. Hang in there.
