How awful to see an awful American-like shopping center near your town. Joni Mitchell was right and still is. They are paving paradise to make a parking lot.
I'll try to forget I saw that huge shopping centre and just concentrate on the beauty of your area Eils.
Oh how sad to see.I live out away from all that but I have a feeling after I'm gone it will move way out here.that bothers me.
Eileen did you ever think that we would be so interested (nosey?) about your village? I mean we are on 3 pages already
I think, somewhere deep down, we all envision a village just like yours, Eileen, out of a fairy tale read to us when we were young. And we want to live there.
It certainly feels as though we're a bit 'out of time' here but that's exactly the way I like it. :-D We have modern houses, offices and factories almost everywhere around us now but it's nice to know that some things remain constant. There are obviously drawbacks to living in a conservation village but they are outweighed by the sheer beauty and peacefulness here. Glenda the very first bed I reserved was for you!!!
I'm interested to hear the disadvantages of living in a conservation village Eileen, I'm sure I could guess a few but I'm sure a few would be missed out.
She has her own picture file in my computer for all things Scottish. There's nothing like a Scottish bird for some excitement here. 8)
Beautiful pictures of your cottage and village. Many of my ancestors came from Scotland - I don't know just where. So I think I will claim your vaillage as my ancesteral home. I too would love to come visit.
I loved your country when I visited several years ago. When we were near St Andrews golf course, we saw sailboats on a bitter cold day and also had a personal tour of the public bathroom that had won prizes for being the best one in the world. That, by itself, made me love Scotland. Your pics make me want to return ASAP. May we please have more? We have seen the front of your house. What about the back?
When Sharon and I moved to our village Pop.324 now 2735. Sonic Drive inns where I used to crawfish. Miollion dollar homes with their raw sewerage running into the canal that runs into Lake Maurepas etc. I fear for the future of the eco-system of Lower Livingston Parish.
Richard, I fear for the future of the world, not just Louisiana. We just don't care, especially in this country. And we can't seem to make people care. Most poeple have children and maybe grandkids. I guess that's not enough motivation. I care so much and I have neither.
