More often referred to as Ti plants (if they are C. fruticosa.) There are other species, with other nicknames.
@Petronius I never knew that either ...I've got 3 Cordyline in green and 1 Red star but that had to be cut low as this summer really dried it out and regarding my other two green ones on the front I have to keep making sure roots are removed. My Redstar as two nice shooting now and it was cut in half Look at these shoots mate but they're under control now.
I've learnt about the plants and how to deal with them...I just would like to see them flower that's if they do, as they don't always
Well mine at the top was lovely the Redstar and the green but as soon as the bad winter was over and the sudden heat wave..it destroyed my Redstar and a lot of the leaves on the green keep dying there's not much left on the top of the two on the front...it won't be long before it's another sawing job to the stem, as I have nice shootings on both.
@Petronius today I had my hubby saw my two green Cordylines in half on the stem because the leaves was going dead quick at the top and I had it done now before winter kicks in and they look alright and my Red Star had two and a 3rd one as formed This one as 2 main stems another growing out the ground and two more of the bark. This one as a total of four.
Thanks mate and the amount of rain they've been fully exposed to today they should grow well hopefully
The ones I have only flower once but that doesn't always happen and with mine it never occurred but I have seen some identical when out where they have from 1-3 flowers heads but there's quite a few genetics of the plant and i'm not sure about the rest as you can see on the link. https://homegardeners.in/cordyline/
@Petronius they 're supposed to smell really nice in the open as well..just disappointed mine did'nt get to that
