Thanks BUNKIE-- the thing in the middle of the wreath is a round porthole-like window with a lace doilly-like thing in it that my s-i-l made. The technique is called "Kloskant" The verb would be "kantklossen". I don't know exactly how to translate this, so I will break it down. Kant is lace and a klos is something like a little spool or bobbin thing. So I guess that it would be lacemaking with spools.
There is also a yellow sticker on the glass That says, "Nederland verdient beter"--or Holland deserves better. It was from the time when the population went into an uproar when the governmant tried to take away many social programs that helped the most needy and vulnerable citizens. Our parents had fought and protested for these and so it was something quite dear to us.

Heh heh heh...cats can be such show-offs. I think that Pete and Roos would hit it off, don't you. Nowhere would be safe with those two on the loose together. :D

I am glad to hear that the roots at the bottom of your trainers have little dead bits on the tips. You know, if time weren't an issue I'd leave the beans in those trainers until the whole root section was one big ball!

i can do that sjoerd. no hurry hear, especially with snow coming in and the cold. the plants are themselves getting quite big...and the poor peas are putting on those strings. they're all looking mighty green and happy tho.

i must admit, i love the root trainers. would love to try lots of different veggies in them. i wonder how tomatoes would do?

Well, it does sound as if things are coming right along there.

I reckon that toms would do well in trainers, although using trainers doesn't really go along with the way that I do them though.
