Oh Sjoerd - today I can really do with that snow. I actually looked at the pictures again just to feel cool. Around here it is HOTTTT.

You're welcome to some of mine too, Palm Tree. We've got temps ranging from -12°C to -5°C or 23 to 10 F, which is cold for here. Further inland they've already had -30C or -22F. February temps.

But Sjoerd, will you be able to arrange that skating race on the canals this winter?

It's a good thing I only tried to make out the title. I would never have been able to enjoy the poetry if I had to decipher the whole thing first.
I'm very happy though that our temps are in the 70's today and again tomorrow.

Well DAISY--I don't have to tell you the rest, Droopy did that below.

Thank you KK-- I am glad that the posting was enjoyable to you.

Well PALMPIE--I sure wish that I copuld send you a bit of this weather. Sorry to hear that it is so hot there.

Well DROOPY-- everyone is talking about it. They are going to have an outside marathon soon up in northern Friesland somewhere. I saw on the news tonight that the Ice Masters were drilling and checking the ice here and there. My fingers are crossed. I assume that you are speaking of the Elfstedentocht, ja?

Hahaha--chains on my tyres, That's a good one, BUNKIE--It isn't difficult to bike around, we have a bike culture here, so it's no big deal.
The garden center is indeed like a huge greenhouse, as it is made of glass. Thanks for liking the posting.

Well, I still think that you did good, DOOLEY.

Very enjoyable posting. Your lotties look beautiful asleep in their snowbeds. It looks so peaceful and quiet. It was fun to see your garden center all dressed up for the holidays.

Thank you Droopy and Sjoerd, for introducing me to this beautiful poem. This morning I was driving to work and the sky was gray... and I thought of the poem again.

Thanks GAIL-- It is indeed very peaceful and quiet in the lotties. I believe that the snow absorbs a lot of sound.
Yeah, that garden center is now more of a christmas cewnter than a place for plants and so forth.

You are welcome, DAISY--I like most of the poems that this turn-of-the-century poet has written. She has a knack for expressing things the way that I like to hear them. Sometimes I think that I was born a century or two too late. :)

    Well Bunkie--
I read the articler. Thanks for posting the link.
I have to say that I don't know what all the fuss is about--I have no problems with cold feet whilst biking...it's when I stop and sit for longperiods that the toe tips begin to burn a little.
In fact I just wear my normal gardening shoes with cotton socks when cycling out to the lotties (if the snow isn't too deep).
For work, shopping etc--I just wear normal street shoes and normal socks and my feet just don't get cold.
    What a curious subject. :)

Some people naturally have cold feet. I sit with mine wrapped in a laprobe when I'm on the computer and I wear socks at all times, even to bed. dr wouldn't let me warm them up on his after the first winter. I have cold hands too.
