Thanks Frank. Phil Spector was better known for his girl groups like Crystals and the Ronettes, so this was a different direction for him, at the time.
My thoughts exactly, I've only just discovered them. They are called The Tielman Brothers and the track was called Rollin' Rock. Filmed in 1960. That's what I call a performance 8) I came across them in this fantastic playlist of videos http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p ... 35BE0D5AA1
DR that was a hard one. But apart from accompanying visuals from a bad soap opera here it is
You the man, DJ Frank. Thought I might have stumped you, but I should know better. Mickey "Guitar" Baker and "Little" Sylvia teamed up as a duo in about 1955. "Love Is Strange" was their second recording session with Groove records. The song, written by Bo Diddley, was given to them by either Bo or his wife, Ethel Smith. Mickey hated the tour scene and he broke up the group to move to Paris for 25 years, where he worked with the U.S. State Department, on occasion. Sylvia married and formed Sugar Hill Records so her son could record The Sugar Hill Gang and thus recorded what may be the first Rap, unless you count Mickey and Sylvia.
Couldn't get Dale and Grace but here are Donnie and Marie Osmond singing it instead
DR what do you think of this Hall & Oates cover version of You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling?
