Salicylic acid is aspirin and is found in many topical ointments such as the Oxy creams for acne and in the wart removal treatments. But as with aspirin, it should not be used by diabetics or children or people with kidney or liver disease. Ask your doctor first.

Milkweed sap is a common folk remedy for warts, as is Dandelion sap. But an cause dermatitis for some who come in contact with it.
BUT, as with the use of all herbs for medicinal purposes please make sure you know what you are using. This is where the Latin name can be a life saver, true Milkweed is in the Asclepiadoideae subfamily - the Asclepias genus.
The other plant that some call Milkweed is actually in the Apocynum genus and also known commonly as Dogbane which can kill dogs and cats and is in the digitalis group of cardia tonics. Both of the plants are in the same 'family - Apocynaceae' but it is the 'genus' you have to double check.

Did you know that during World War II the milkweed fluff was collected here in the states to use as a substitute for kapok.

Kapok is a tropical tree, specifically grown in southeast Asia and South America. Fiber from the pods have been used as filler for life jackets and other floating devices (some small boats had kapok filling the space between the exterior and interior side walls). It isn't used much now with the inventions of manmade products.

That is soooo cool!! Thanks for the info.

I guess that if we still used natural resources for that type of mass produced item, those resources would be extinct, or close to it.
