Droopy, you say 'card'. Does this mean the motherboard, or perhaps video card? You can still access the old harddrive even if these are broken.

That's not good news. :( It is frustrating having to set up a new computer but on the positive side... you will have newer technology. I hope you are able to retrieve all your data and photos. Good luck with getting back on line. We all miss you. ;)

Thanks for all the good wishes, Stewbies. :stew2:

Probably the motherboard, Frank. I can't find my translation page on this tiny thing with the small memory and no tags. The shop promised to transfer my files and programs to the new PC so I'm rather hopeful despite everything. Still, things will take time.

I had a tiny hope that they could move my old hard drive to the new PC and then I could have two in one, but they couldn't because of the connections or whatever.

I'm glad you will be able to get a new one and some of your old files will be transfered to your new one.

So am I, Glenda. So am I. I feel rather hamstrung without the possibility to upload a photo and share it if I get the urge to do so.

Not good news about your computer Droopy but at least the new one should have a warranty so that if anything goes wrong you'll be covered. What a shame your printer won't connect to the new one but there are some all-in-ones that are quite cheap to buy and just as good as the pricier ones.

Well, it looks like you are getting a handle on your computer problem...sorta.
I wonder what you mean by "card" too. If you will not be able to use your old HD when you have a new card replacement, perhaps it is the motherboard.

Well, let us know what the verdict is when you know. I hope that you will have your compi back soon.

Well, I know how much I missed my computer when we moved here. I was really glad to get back even with the slow dial up connections. I hope it all comes out as you like it and there isn't too much new to learn.

I just had a thought: You never got to miss me at all, did you. :D And I never got to miss you either. :D

Thanks for your support, all of you. Just a day or so more now, and I'll probably be able to surf as I'm used to. Can't wait! I have a VR that I would hate to loose or be without for a long period of time.

    Big hugs to you all.

We didn't even like the anticipation of missing you, did we?

Glad the repairs seem to be going well.. computer stuff can be so tricky.

The machine is here and working! Oh, I'm sooo happy. Unfortunately the shop couldn't recover the data so there was probably a disc crash as well as a motherboard chrash, but never mind. I've got my photos on CDs and the documents were probably not that important at all. :D

Fantastic Droopy. :smt023 I hope the computer didn't cost an arm and a leg to sort out but I'm so glad it's fixed. Really happy we didn't lose you. :D
