I'd gladly wait more than five years to get a monster hosta like that. Can you imagine the fun of watching it poking through the soil in spring, and just skyrocketing up and out to reach that 1,40 height and about 60 cm long leaves? Double drool! And it will be pretty in the meantime too, even though it might look a lot like the Hosta sieboldianii for the first few years. I think our largest hosta is about 80 cm tall at the tallest and more than one meter wide now. It's been sitting in the same place undisturbed for about eight years I think.
Good point there, Bsew... Droopy -- that was exactly what I was thinking. Once it is mature, can you imagine the thrill of watching it? I am imagining that its growth could be seen with the naked eye!
Ok. I have decided I am going to get one of those Hostas. Seeing I am 61 now, by the time it matures to its full potential I will be 66 At least I will have something to look forward to.
