Hiya Kay--Those plants are easy to find here at garden centres. They are also quite inexpensive. If one closed on your puddy's nose, it would not hurt it. The plant has no hard and sharp "teeth", or anything like that. Another possibility in the same vein is a "pitcher" plant that is open and the gnats go down into the pitcher and get stuck in the solution in the bottom. It is perhaps worth thinking about. Anyhow, good luck with this airborne problem.
Thanks Sjoerd, I'm always interested in adding another plant to my house. I have worked at two greenhouses here in my city, and have never run across the Venus, but have seen the pitcher plant. Maybe another day, I am knee deep in "holiday" cleaning/dusting today (ugh, loathe this chore) and it is quite Cccold, and windy. Temps in the teens F. So Brrr, and a good day to stay in. I do love a winter trip to the garden center though...
