Oh what a beautiful sight! We still have too much snow to get out in the woods. Yours look whiter than ours. Ours are darker, they really blend in with the dirt I grew up hunting these with my dad. My sister and I never had much luck but Dad sure did. I bought him one of the kits I found on the internet and it flopped A few years ago they began selling permits to pick mushrooms because we had so many commercial harvesters combing our woods for these little beauties. Makes it really hard on us Native folks to find just a few after the harvesters have cleaned us out Deanna :-D
out west where you are the Morels are more burn site correct? They are a much darker mushroom for sure. Here is a pic of a black I found yesterday, well actually 5 of them in the one area here that I know actually produces them.
Guess I am the only one that doesn't know what a Morel is and has never heard of them. Just call me sheltered ... or dumb!
Good job!! We went hunting Sunday, but they are not up yet here. We're thinking if we get a couple days of 70's (19C)here, this weekend will be the start for them. Hope we can find a bunch.
Yep! You're right! That dark one looks just like ours, makes my mouth water just looking at it We normally find ours in burns or in areas where they have logged and tore up the ground a bit. Deanna :-D
I've heard the burns produce well there. As to logging area's OOHHH YEAAHHHH They hit like nobody's business the spring after a fall logging. There was one year I picked for over an hour in a skidder trail.......ahhhhh memories lol Best of luck to you and your family in your hunt! Hope you get a basket full.
