Thats so true Sharon.I would hate to live the winters in Montana.I am so use to Texas but the cold states don't have the mosquito problems. It stays rather nice here year round except the heat in the summer time.My plants can be kept in a plastic house with only light bulbs for heat and not freeze.I guess all in all we are much better off than most.

Actually, my understanding is that the cold states do have mosquitoes, they have them in greater numbers for shorter periods of time. At least, my cousins in Minnesota tell me, the mosquitoes are awful. From the Discovery Channel, I understand that mosquitoes are hell in Alaska. The freezes may kill 'em off before ours get zapped, so we have skeeters longer, but they have 'em more intensely.

It was supposed to get to 35 last night here, but peeking outside (it's still 'pre-sunrise') it doesn't look like it quite made it. I put my most tender plants in my greenhouse last night just in case, and I think Mr. Brug the Brugmansia will get a winter vacation as a houseplant.

I do get rather tired of the grey skies (rain = winter here) but on the other hand, I'm not having to allow time to haul a gardenhose or two all over the yard which is a nice break.

Wow, seriously beautiful tree shot. I look forward to winter. Out come all the projects that have been put on hold. It IS nice to have a break from the garden and sit and sip tea and look at the seed catalog and dream of Next Year. :-D
