Well EJ, I am sorry to hear about your friends/neighbours. It's a pity that things are taking a turn for the worst.
I can imagine that your friend (Mary) with the CA is indeed 'low' at the moment.
I am the eternal optimist and so I am hoping that she will eventually feel stronger.
I have no doubt that when you told her that you had been doing things in her garden that her spirits were lifted, if only for a moment.
It's difficult to know what to do when you want to do...something, anything to give her support and let her know that you are there and thinking about her.
Well, if Jenny doesn't have any ideas for you you can always make some visits, keeping them short as not to wear her out.
I have always maintained that dealing with illnesses is 80% mental and 20% medical intervention...so anything that you can do to bolster her mental situation will aid her immensely, I'd reckon.
Actually I believe that the same would go for your other friend, Debs. The mental boost that folks get when they are in the throws of their disease always means more than words can express to them.

I wish you strength and hope that your friends do not have to suffer too much. It's such a shame.
