oh how I enjoyed the walk through your garden. looks like a great place to sit a spell and have a nice cold drink. love all the colors and fun added things to look at. thanks for sharing.
Oh my, Toni! You have done a lot of work. looks to me like a lot of iced tea breaks kind of work :-D The shoe path was a great idea. and I love those burgundy cannas. Oh, and the old truck, it looked great in your driveway.
Goodness gracious me, Toni--what progress you have there. You must be quite proud of yourself. I can recall from the little bits that I have seen over the years of your garden that it now looks pretty developed-- every year more additions, Junque finds/--it all adds up to a great visual now. Well done you! I expect that it will be even better as the season progresses. You´ll have to do another foto display later on in the season. :-D
Say Toni---what are you going to do with that Yucca plant? Did you mean that you are going to throw it away?...or will you just transplant it to a different place? I have often thought about growing one here; or should I say, planting one and hoping that it would grow. The weather here these days is too wet and cool for one to do well. We are still getting temps below freezing at night, so in general I am way far behind (as compared to last year). Anyway, I was curious to understant what the future held for your yucca.
Great tour and I like the shoes throughout the area too...it must keep you very busy with so large an area.
Thanks you all for more nice comments about my garden. Donna, I usually ache in places I didn't know could ache after working out there all day in the spring....but it is totally fun at the same time. Philip, most of our neighbors have the standard shrubs next to the house and lots of green lawn to feed/water/mow/edge. But I have noticed that flowering plants are being planted in more yards lately. One front yard three houses down from us is filled with rose bushes and other flowering shrubs. Across the street the lady has Canna, Iris and Roses. Jane and Cheryl have called me the 'enabler' here on the Stew so I guess that has carried over to my neighborhood too. Deanna, lots of work but a great stress reliever too when you name the weeds then relentlessly yank them out with a maniacal laugh. Terry, I have a couple of benches that I have been thinking about putting out there somewhere. The last thing I do when I finish working in the yard each day is to drink a can of Chrysanthemum Tea while thinking about what I just got done and what still needs to be done. Carolyn, those burgundy Cannas were a freebie I got through my rEcycle list and with the Rosemary were the first things planted in that north bed. Hubby really misses that old truck. Sjoerd, that Yucca plant and another one not shown will be planted in what is called the H*** Strip, that strip of land between the sidewalk and the street. It's difficult to water and gets baked by heat reflecting from both the sidewalk and the street, so I have also been accumulating some dought tolerant plants to put out there. Sherry, lining the path with the footwear is another idea that I 'borrowed' from a magazine...I'm good at that. Looking at the garden from the north side it looks really large but from the south side it looks only half that size, not sure why.
