Yes Me to, Me to, I love second hand shops. It's the fun of seeking out just that special thing. Like being on a treasure hunt. Those look like some great finds. The birds are just to cute. :stew1:

Thanks, KK--I hope that you made it to the market for some leeks.

Thank you, JERRY-- Glad you like the looks of the bench. It's purpose is to just plop down on for a few minutes to rest in between jobs.

Hi WARETROP--Thanks for your remarks. I looked at the pic, but I am not sure exactly what you want me to see. Well, if it was free, then that makes it worthwhile right away.

Thanks, MG--Well, thanks for your comments and advice for the bench. As for the little "carpet"--the foto doesn't really give a good idea of its size. it is way too small to be a prayer rug, as I could only get one knee on it. I am pretty sure that it isn't an antique, as it looks and feels too new. No matter, I liked it and needed a covering for a little end table, and it fit to a "T".

Thanks CHERYL for your posting. I am leaning towards just cleaning it and leaving it as it is. I rather like that silvery-gray colour.

Hey TONI--Well, I thought that if anyone would recognize my silly little feelings, it might be you, as you are the penultimate Junquey. I mean, you are a pro. I think that you are right about that style being out of production, which means that it is probably a bit old. No matter though, I am counting on another ten years out of it. I probably will never know for sure what sort of wood it truly is, so I am just resigned to keeping it and liking it. I will keep my eyes open when I make my rounds to the garden centers, though.

Hiyah EILEEN--Thanks for the info. Does this mean that you actually KNOW this brand (Oxford Collection)there? I never stopped to think that it might be imported from the UK, even though it has the word, "Oxford" on the little tag. It could be though. This junque-hunting could become addictive, couldn't it? Hahaha.

Hi DOOLEY (and DR)--That rug is either wool or wool-cotton blend. It is definitely not silk. It looks and feels similar to the large prayer carpet that I picked up in Turkey a few years ago. I am partial to the typical sajjada motif, and this one was woven in a 3-D manner.
You are correct--the tiny rug is not a prayer rug, it is meant for a table top here.
Thanks for the bench comments too.
BTW--I am indeed planning to make a narrow "patio" for the bench to rest on with room for my feet when my legs are stretched-out. I further intend re-working the soil in front of that to make a nice bed.

    Thanks, NETTY--I appreciate your input.

Thank you, KAY-- I certainly intend on resting on the bench from time to time, although the real sitting and pondering will take place over under the shady arches.

Thank you, BUNKIE--That's what I like hearing. hahaha.

Thanks GAIL...and thanks for the link as well. I don't know if I will ever discover exactly what wood it is, but for now, I am well chuffed with the items.

Thank you so much, SOJ--Glad you liked the posting.

Hey 2T-- glad you liked the posting and birdies. I so enjoy watching those little guys.

The Oxford collection is quite well known over here Sjoerd. It's a rather expensive brand of furniture nowadays though and always has the little metal plate on it. I think you got a real bagain - maybe the shop owner didn't realise what he was actually selling.

Sjoerd..that garden bench looks absolutely disgusting at your house and because it can be packed up easily , you should pack it up straightaway and seed it to me!

Seriously though what a great find and it suits your place beautifully[bad luck for me]

Thanks very much for your added info, EILEEN. I am pretty pleased with it.

WARETROP--Oké then, I shall keep my eyes open for that. I am interested in seeing that window of yours properly.

I agree...great find sjoerd. I hate that when someone else starts looking at something when I am looking at...if it is small, I pick it up and walk around until I have time to think if it will really work at my home.

Congratulations on your aquisitions, Sjoerd. You did well! Of course that bench was meant for you to find it, it fits perfectly.by your new shed. The little rug is very handsome indeed. I have a soft spot for oriental rugs and would buy several if I had the money. They're horribly expensive here.

Thanks DROOPY--I think the bench sits pretty good I wonder if it would fit you? hahaha. Yes, I am fond of oriental carpets and rugs as well.

Thanks KID--Who knows Mr J may well go along with another bench for you in the end. :)
