Darn,,I had about 70 plants and had enough for me, the neighbors and half the county. Do you have a late growing season? If it reasonably warm,, you should have more than enough. Or do you do the farmers market too ?

No I don't have enough. When I make sauce it is very thick and I try to keep about 300 quarts on hand all the time. When my daughter was little I bought 800 pounds one year.Don't remember how much that made. LOL It was some 30 years ago. I also cover them if it is going to frost to keep the plants and finally I take all green ones at the end of the season and keep them in brown paper bags to ripen them.

Didn`t think about that. Yes, it takes more when you cook it down for sauce. I make more picante sauce and regular canned tomatoes and there are just the two of us so doesn`t take that much. I usually have a few jars left by next season, and I cook daily.

mart, I try to have 2 years of food put up by the end of the growing season in case we have a bad year the next year. Like, maybe, this years corn. I didn't freeze and can much last year so I am down to maybe 10 pints. Well, that won't last long. If I don't get some canned I won't have any for a year.

Missed the 19 cents an ear sale at our local grocery store and I am afraid that price won't come around again this year. One year I got it for 11 cents an ear.

Back to tomatoes, I make canned whole tomatoes, plain sauce, Mexican and Italian sauce, and some as thick as paste.
