Hairy Woodpecker...

    Kildale...I was fairly positive with the look of this one being a Hairy because he is so large compared to alot of my other ones. I think 3 of the smaller downy make a hairy woodpecker ... and no red spot on your downy, is that a juvenile or a female?

    Red on the head is male. No red is female.

    After reading that last part about no red spots on the females , I am not sure if I have ever had one without the red...I will really watch close to see...thank you Kildale.
