Wow Sherry...it sounds like the best, and safest ones would be right from your own garden. I hope they hurry up and ripen for you. Then you MUST show some pics.....puhleeeeeze.
The strawbs I ordered were Mae, florence and another one I can't remember off hand. One very early and weather resistant, the next a maincrop and the last a later one, going into August time. I am kicking myself about the carrots as when I spent the day on the plot on Thursday I had a looksie at my carrots and there are plenty there for pulling already! See, I hide them under fleece and forget that they grow whilst I'm not looking!!
Yeah EJ...I tend to do the same. I keep mine under enviromesh, though because the carrot fly is pretty bad here. Often I don't think about them for days at a time and then soimeone will walk by and see them from the path and make a comment about how they look and then I think, "Oh yes, I must pull one up and have a looksie"...then I go right back to weeding or planting or whatever else I was doing and they are forgotten for another week'r so. I sometimes wonder if I shouldn't give them a splash of water now and again...but usually we get enough rain here. Well with the massive rainfall we've had in the past week-week and a half, all the rain barrels are well full. Some of the carrots split from all the rain. I really like to give my toms fresh rainwater, though...so the torrential downpours were good in that respect. BTW Emma...where are those nice fotos of your village show conquests? I popped over to your blog again, but they aren't there either. Did you take so many pics that it's taking forewver to sort them? :-D .......I hope so, for I would like to see LOTS!
