Has anyone ever recycled an empty cable spool. Table maybe?

Here is my sanded and painted cable spool/table. Also a trellis my hubby made for me that I painted, along with a handmade 60 year old stool that just won't quit. All painted with that $5.00 can of paint.

Oh yes, my faithful companion, Dillon. Mr. Dillon to you. 8)

This is the top of the table. We've already had a picnic out here in our back yard. Wow, we just love it for that.

Wow... everything looks great. I love that stool. It looks nice and sturdy and the "form" is very eye catching. And tell Mr. Dillon, he's looking very handsome.
Maybe I should do something to spruce up the spool I have just sitting around?

Chery, I would love to see your spruced up spool! Hmmm, I just noticed my red water pump in the background; I wonder how that would look inserted in the table top hole.

Well, onto my next project.

I had one for my table back in the late 70s. I had a friend use his jigsaw to cut curves in the bottom so chairs could get closer. Then I used his torch to burn it, but not totally burned ( do you know what I mean?). Then I verithained (sp?). We used that for several years. Then my son and I moved into a very small duplex and it didn't fit. So I ended up with an old drop leaf table from the 1920s or thirtys, which I still use. I actually have very fond memories of that spool table.
