Oh Sjoerd, Fritillaria Imperialis has been on my wish list forever! Yours are gorgeous! And Droopy's Peony collection has me drooling too!! Keep 'em coming!
Thank you for the show everyone...the flowers are beautiful....none to show here yet so keep them coming...
I would like to thank everyone for helping me out! And I am not covered in snow. All of you gardners grow and show the most beautiful flowers I believe I have ever seen. You sure beat pics in magazines! Gaylyn
Glendann--that is the "crown imperial", (Fritillaria imperialis). They are sometimes a bit difficult to grow, but don't let that stop you...give it a try. They bloom in the spring. There are more than one sort of fritillaria like these two yellowish ones, but there are some do not look anything like this species at all.
Netty...those Imperials aren't mine, I took the fotos in the Keukenhof, a big spring garden here in Holland. I do not have many spring flowers at all in my garden because I am not there at that time of year to get much joy from them. I have sort of a summer garden, I guess you would say. However, that doesn't stop me from enjoying what other folks have.
Thanks for more Sjoerd. If I find Imperials here, there are very expensive. The Keukenhof sounds fabulous!
Oh netty...it IS! They have so many different sorts of spring flowers to see. Every time I go there I take waaaaaay too many fotos...I really am a bit outta control in the presence of such beauty.
Sorry I'm just now seeing my gorgeous flowers...lol I started my anatomy and physiology class this week and Logan and I both have been sick. I am under a winter storm warning til tomorrow night. My little tulips and iris are coming up, so hopefully this snow doesn't hurt them. I love the bleeding hearts!!! All of ya'll pics have really made me feel like it is spring, even as I sit here watching the snow falling..lol All the pics are stunningly beautiful!!! Keep them coming and I promise as soon as it stops snowing..I'll take some pics.
Hi, Heather! I hope you and Logan are feeling better by now. I'm glad you enjoyed the flowers. We enjoyed posting them. I have two red tulips blooming this morning. They will open up more when the sun gets on them and I will post a picture for Trey. dooley
Heather I hope you and Logan are feeling better. Anatomy and physiology are not two classes to start when you are feeling good, much less sick. Good luck with school. Gaylyn
