Netty, good luck with growing hellebores. They're really easy plants, which is one of the things I like about them. :D

stratsmom, our hellebores grow both with the hostas and in between other garden plants. Please remember to get some.

    Philip, thank you. :D

Palustris, we've also got self-seeded ones. Ours grow best in full sun, but our full sun isn't as full as yours as a rule. :D

stratsmom, I think that depends on the type of hellebore. I've got a pink, bell-flowered one that self-seeds, and some of her babies bloom after one year. The Helleborus foetidus seedlings are three years old now but I haven't seen any blooms yet. I think two-three years might be a safe estimate generally speaking.

Getting bought dried seeds to germinate is not easy, they can take 2 years from sowing before you see anything. They need multiple cold/warm/ periods to overcome the deep dormancy. You are better getting fresh seeds from someone with plants.

I'm sorry I've forgotten to post the rest of our hellebores as they've bloomed but I'll remedy that now:

I'm sorry that I can't give any names - most of these were bought as Helleborus mix. They're still pretty though. :D

I didn't realise just how many hellebores you had Droopy!! Makes my three plants look a little scarce on the ground. I've seen pack of mixed over here but never thought them worth buying as they are quite expensive. I've changed my mind now after seeing yours. :-D

Thanks for liking our hellebores. :D We love them since they give so much colour to the garden at an otherwise bloom-less time. What I don't like about them is having to remove all the dead foliage in spring. :D Since the stems are so tough I have to cut the leaves off very carefully and it takes forever. Still, it's worth it.

Tell me about it. I filled the wheelbarrow 10 times and I never did get round all of them.

Palustris, I think you have more of them than I do. I only filled a couple of bark chip bags. :D

Ok so this is a first for me, I've never heard of these flowers either but they are spectacular! I did like the snow drops. How cute :) Thanks for sharing. So you are going into winter where you live? Sorry sometimes it slips my mind that not everyone everywhere has the same seasons at the same time. So does that mean these are considered fall flowers?
