    As a matter of fact Texas was an independent country (The Republic of Texas) before becoming the 28th state in Dec. 1845.

    Oh, I see. Must look up its History sometime!
    In India, besides our own History, our school curriculum has much more about Europe than America, and even less about China.
    Seems like our curriculum needs to be revised a bit.
