Hi Tony, welcome to GardenStew,.. from Ireland,..lovely interesting story about the seeds,..you were destined to carry on the line.
Hi Tony, and welcome from Missouri. I learned to garden from my aunt. We had a couple of small flower beds and had some volunteer watermelons one summer. A bunch of my mother's people are farmers though, so it is in the blood.
Glad you are hear and love your story. My heirloom seed has been the Scarlett Runner Beans for a few decades now. There is something comforting to have the same plant in the garden year after year and not having to relly on any one else for the seeds. I feel seed distributors are rather inconsistent on their offerings of heirlooms. Can't wait to see photos of your garden
A warm welcome to you from the cold north-western coast of Norway. I hope you'll like it here. I know I do.
Hi Droopy, Thanks for the welcome. So how long is the growing season where you live in northern Norway? Just curious. Tony
Hi Jewell, I love planting from seeds I've made from the previous year's crop. It's so satisfying. :-D BTW, I have a couple photos of my garden in my photos section. Take a look. I only have tomatoes and corn this year, but next year I hope to have more stuff Tony
Hi Tony, Welcome from Massachusetts! How did you fare during our recent heat wave? It was good to hear your story about your tomato plants. Pretty cool.
Hi CM, My garden is not that big, so I was able to keep it watered during the heat wave. My corn seems to really like the heat, but my tomatoes are dropping flowers. I understand this is common with hot days and warm nights. I also have some blossom end rot on my tomatoes, so I'll have to add lime this fall. It's been many years since lime has been added Tony
I don't live in northern Norway. The north-west coast is south of Trondheim but north of West Cape. Our growing usually start in the beginning of May and it ends in the beginning of September unless we're lucky and get a warm autumn. Since our temps have been low this year nothing is growing much bar weeds.
Tony, I hope you will post your photos and tell a little about them in the Members Gallery. I would hate to miss your postings/photos. Great looking vegie garden. It has been too cool and wet here and my tomotoes have nothing! My sugar snap peas are just starting to produce. :-?
