Welcome Pete from another Texan. I look forward to seeing and hearing more about your garden and ponds. I checked out the jigstones and I believe that is the same product my sister in law and her husband used on their firplace and wall in their home!!

Glasfryn - are you anywhere near Aberaeron, Aberystwyth or Devil's Bridge? I spent a few summer months in that area for three years, living out of a 2 berth caravan, building Jigstones models for an outdoor model railway tourist attraction (that sadly went to the wall). The sort of damp place where moss grows on your boots if you don't keep them moving. When I came away, I actually had moss growing along my car window rubber! But not enough for a proper meal. :smt016

    hi pete,
I live right in the middle of Carmarthen and Llanelli which has a fair drop of water dumped on it and even last summer I did not have to water even though the sun was at its best, its the sort of place where you only have to throw cuttings and they start rooting before they have reached the ground (my sort of heaven after Brighton)where every other bed is a mini-bog garden :-D and the dry ones have a cat in residence....lol.

Hi Pete from blustery Essex! Where abouts in my favourite part of the world are you living? My Maternal family are all north Devoners hailing from Barnstaple, Bideford, Appledore and Westleigh.

Hi EJ - I'm a couple of miles out from Barnstaple, near Instow, but am only into my fourth month here. My family used to live at Combe Martin from '54 to '60 - I was of course then just a kid, but although I was born in Surrey, I always think of North Devon as being my 'home'. Possibly because I have better memories of my childhood here than back in Surrey. We moved back to Surrey for the purposes of our eventual better work prospects in 1960.
I'm afraid I don't know Essex much, or anywhere north of the river if I'm honest.
    Pete

It is very funny Pete, I was born in Sutton, Surrey, but always long to go 'home' to Devon. We pass through instow daily when we are down as my grandparents now live in Fremington and rather than come along the link road, we trundle along the old road and through instow.

Welcome to the site - there are a great bunch of folk here whose talents are endless!

EJ - I was born in Mitcham, but so long ago now I expect it's changed beyond recognition.
    Pete.
