Greetings from Western WA! Isn't it amazing how different our climates are when we are so near to one another? I briefly lived in Yakima years ago. Now I am near Mt. Rainier. Where are you located?

hi muddybob! we're 60 plus miles NW of Spokane in the sticks and the mountains. we lived near Mt. Rainier for a couple of years in 87-88, near Ashford. we're still 'drying out', tee hee, since we moved here in 89! awwww, it wasn't that bad where we were...tho, the weather's really taking a change here, the last couple of years. where bouts are you?

Eatonville. We are closer to Graham than the actual town of Eatonville. Hope the forest fires are far from you.

hey muddybob! we know where Eatonville is. used to shop there on occassion and enjoy all the yardsales! Graham rings a bell, but it's foggy for me right now. hubby even got excited about someone knowing our ex-living spots!

for once, the forest fires are quite a distance from us. when we first moved here we had ash flying into the gardens from the fires, and the sun was always blood red. the air was always filled with smoke. but it hasn't happened for quite awhile now. we had and have good friends who are here to help if need be, and we now have a tractor so fire lanes are a dominant priority every spring, summer and fall!

Hi Bunkie! South of Tumwater here, whoo you are Seriously eastern Wa! DH used to be the phone man in Graham, that's the only reason I know where Muddy is, lol! My town is a true flyspeck, just a gas station, tavern, 2 churches and the ubiquitous espresso stand!

Welcome from coastal Carolina, Muddybob. There seems to be a lot of you from there. You can see what a friendly "stew" this is.

wowee! you're right gardengater, look at all the great welcomes, and the number of stewers from Washington state!

tschnath, where about are you in southern Maine? we moved there in 55 and i lived in Harpswell most of my childhood, going to Brunswick High. miss the clams and 'lobstahs', 'ayyuh', i do!

CritterPainter, lucky you by the Sound! that's another thing i miss, the ocean. lucky you with a liquor store too!!! we just have one tiny convenience store with mechanic and gas.

travelingbooklover, how goes it in Kuwait? lots of heat?

thanks again all! i'm still working on posting photos. i guess we'll just have to have a hummungous 'stewparty' when i 'get it'! now my regular image site is not accepting my pics...sigh...but i shall pursue! :D

I'm in Kennebunkport, where Mr. Bush lives off and on all summer and President Bush creates a commotion when he shows up.

You can have my clams and "lobstahs" because I don't eat either. I know it's a sin, living in ME and not eating seafood but...what can I say?

oh wow tschnath, Kennebunkport! it's so beautiful there...or was. haven't been back since '86 and i hear Maine's had a lot of growing going on since then.

no sin here not to like seafood. i know lots of people, and nin when i lived there, who didn't like it. i grew up with it and think that's why it's one of my loves. we dug clams/steamers/quohogues in our backyard as kids, and each of us had our own lobster trap. we had a small sailboat/outboard and used to travel to the islands and lay on the boat deck with a long string with a saftey pin attached to it with a piece of clam on it. we'd dangle them in the low water waiting for crabs to come and grab them! then...now i hear there's lots of red tide, sigh...
