Good idea to wait with re-potting Toni--this type of plant is very persnikkety. I believe that if you had repotted now, you may well have precipitated the buds to drop off. Mine are so sensative that if I would turn the lpant around so that the most of the blooms would be facing into the room, they'd fall off. These cacti are notorious for this bud dropping thing.
They each came with the celophane 'sleeves' around them and I lost several buds just slipping the plants up and out of them. Most of the lost buds were from the yellow and white ones, they had very few buds to begin with too I know what you mean about them being sensitive. I take them down off the shelf to water and usually manage to loose a bud or two each time.
