A bitter 6°F this a.m. here. Biting cold wind. No sun, very gloomy. Forecast says reaching 40°F tomorrow, then looking for a "wintery mix" on Saturday. I wish for rain, not freezing rain & ice. Crazy weather, can't decide which season it is. Chocolate, you are sweating through extreme temps the opposite way! This is what we did last summer. Hope you get some relief!
When they say wintery mix.Get gas for generator.and flash lights charged.Had ice storm in Feb fee years back -no lights for a week.
My chickens are having a very hard time with frozen water, my house furnace only heats my daughters part of the house, and you all know she really doesn't need the heat. My house has no heat by the furnace. I have someone working on it for 2 days now. Maybe today he will fix it. I have a pellet stove to keep my living room warm for the girls, my puppies. The dining room fireplace will keep the back part of the house warm. There are so many people in line for the furnace guy to get to. I told him to put me on in the end of the day. Brrr...we are very cold here....
I can remember Dh dealing with frozen water when he raised quail. Also Homing pigeons. The warmers for them didn't work right.Hope you get your furnace fixed fast. They are busy around here.Lot of Trailers broken pipes.
Barb, I am having the same problem, I put a dishpan out in the coop with warm water in it to "solve" my problem. I usually go out in the afternoon again and take another bucket of water to them. The bunnies are the same way, the waterers are frozen solid every morning. I hope you get your furnace fixed quick. It is a hardship to be with out any heat, so that was kind of you to worry that others may have no heat at all, before they come to fix yours. Monday is fore-casted for freezing rain, that worries me a little since I have all my geraniums up and all my petunias for hanging baskets just emerging. No electric means no heat out in the greenhouse. I will have to bring it all inside in case there is an outage for very long. Hopefully it will start warming up a little now. I think we are almost past the typically coldest weather, now.
Are you all going to come to Texas and pound on me if I tell you it was 79 here at 3 pm. Cloudy and rain tomorrow but still not cold. 60's I think. dooley
Nah, Dooley, we just may show up and join you....well, I can't! I forgot there for a second that I have greenhouse seedlings already started. Enjoy your weather!
Going to town buy more ice melt. They said we might get 1/2 of ice starting in middle of night. Wish I could hook up hose to warm water. and spray trees to melt ice.Dh got chain saws all ready.
:'( Sorry to hear of the forecast KK. We had a freezing rain fore casted until today, but now it is changed to sleet and rain for Monday.
Been plenty cold. Working outside no matter the weather. Not worried too much about ice. All the tree's around the lines and my house are down or trimmed way back. Luckily, or not, the transformer is on the pole in my back yard. Starting pepper seeds for transplant this weekend. Cabbage and tomato's in a couple of weeks. Planting time is not too far off.
We had the 3 big trees taken down that was leaning to power lines. But being in country 1 line miles away can take out lights.Did 3 weeks ago for 1 and 1/2 days. All ready calling of service to many churches .
I know we need rain but. I would take snow any day.Roads must be very slick.Have not seen anyone on them for 2 hours.
We getting plenty of rain puddles every place. Could ice skate down the drive way.Dh just got done turning off heat at church. Wore his Yak-traks. Ds went with him. Put out ice melt on ramp type walk.So far no power outage Flickered once. When winds started up -took shower while we had hot water.
