that's what i was thinking. i put in the whole bean, probably 3 if them in apintplus size bottle. after a month, the vanilla scent is really strong. just use plain old Vodka, too.
I saw this topic and thought it would be fun to try. I bought some beans and some vodka and tossed two beans in the 750mL vodka bottle. I put it in the cabinet and plan on forgetting about it for a while.
Toni, Thanks for the information on the Tonka beans. My son just returned from Haiti last night with a bottle of vanilla. It had coumarin as an ingredient... Will not use!
