Wow Eileen your fast tonight,..i just reloaded the page and there you were lol. She hated the headgear,..like all dogs do.
Our veterinary practice had a German Shepherd that had to wear one of those collars. At first he bumped into everything and tried to claw it off. However, after just a couple of weeks he seemed to settle down and accept that it had to stay put. It was on for 6-7 weeks until his broken leg healed enough for it to be removed. Formally a very nervous dog he'd become far more confident when wearing his 'bucket' so much so that when it was removed the poor dog began suffering from withdrawal symptoms. We had to wean him off his headgear gradually. None of us had ever experienced anything like it before. Most animals, as you say, hate the things and are only too happy to see the end of them.
Hi Eileen,..6 to 7 weeks!,..poor dog wearing the collar for that length of time,..amazing the change that came over him,..you can never really tell what might happen as a result of a visit to the Vet,..as for Molly she was bumping into everything,..couldn't walk through the door opening without getting a bump,..getting into the car was out of the question without a helping hand.
Poor dear! I wouldn't like to wear a collar like that either. Isn't it strange how animals seem to adapt to whatever we do to them? My pony had to wear a boot on one of his hind legs. He didn't like it much but when we finally managed to get a horseshoe back on he stopped and stared at me when I was taking him outside in the morning. Like "Aren't you forgetting something now?"
That's too bad Molly had to go to the doctor! Hope she is all healed and ready to frolic! She appeared to be a pampered patient there, all tucked in comfy. Pat her on the furry head from me!
A lot of nice pictures of Molly. Without the collar She looks a lot happier. I wonder if she knows she is known around the world? Jerry
Hi Jerry,..she certainly knows what the camera is and will stay still if its pointed at her. Resting After A Long Walk. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden )
I was sure Molly was asleep until i spotted the eyes twinkle,..imagine snoring while the eyes were open. http://s1098.photobucket.com/user/gleng ... 6.mp4.html
Blue used to do that but with only one eye open. Don't you just love 'em and the crazy things they do?
Hi Eileen,..we don't give them enough credit and when they behave just like humans it stuns us,..i often heard Molly chewing something in the sitting room,.. i would look at her and she would stop chewing and pretend to be looking at something but when i went back to the computer she would start chewing again,..do you think she would allow me to open her mouth,..oh no clamped shut lol,..all for a small pebble.
Glad to hear that she is up to her old self again. She sure does look happy in that photo. I wish my little dog would pose for pics. I get out the camera and she goes into droopy mode. I'll say look at mom tooty-she looks the other way. Or when she does look at me she has her ears drooped and a sad soap look on her face. It is so neat to see how personable they really are.
There is no doubt that some pets are camera shy,..but not Molly lol. Its amazing when you are working on something not taking any notice of your pet but to glance to where they are only to find them doing a study of you and what you are engrossed in,..eerie at times.
