Thanks Cayuga Morning,..very flat,..ideal if one was interested in cycling,..i used to have a bicycle and loved getting around to places i couldn't take a car,..gave the bicycle to someone who needed it in Dublin City .

Eileen its great to see the local authorities being so interested in creating a better habitat for wildlife,..mostly we complain about the lack of it,..thankfully not here in Westmeath,..they have erected Bat Boxes on poles,..seems to be working,..also as we have Corncrakes in the meadows close to the river,..the hay is cut in that area only at a certain time to allow mating and the young to survive.

We are having a great spell of warm weather as high as 27C=80F,..too warm to do much in the garden without having to change wet clothing after a few minutes toiling,..so off to the river with dog in tow.

Duh,..are you serious?,..i can not go in because the shore is too muddy!.

Well it's obvious that Molly loves water isn't it? :headbang:That cute little face lights up whenever she gets to play in it. You are so lucky to have such a beautiful river for her to enjoy especially in such hot weather.

Eileen,..she certainly thinks of water in line after food,.. though there would be a competition as to which comes first,..Molly would knock me down to get to food but looks at me to give the ok to swim.

Cayuga Morning,..Molly is a Goofy Dog,..Smile,..Food,..Swim,..nothing complicated inside that head lol.

    I don't think I've ever seem yellow loosestrife before - isn't it pretty? :)
Great shots of the wagtails with their fledglings. I love to watch them bobbing around here wagging those long tails.

Hi Eileen,..that Yellow Loosestrife isn't as common around where i live as much as the Purple Loosestrife,..though it has been used with floral arrangements back as far as the Victorian Era,..the Yellow Loosestrife is 'Lysimachia punctata',..grown in some gardens but its invasive sadly,..very pretty though.

I like the Wagtails as well,..they don't fly away from me like other birds,..just fly ahead and land about 10 foot ahead,..then they keep this up for quite a distance along the river.

    August 16th 2017.

Molly was put to sleep this afternoon,..since her near miss in the Canal just a short time ago her back legs seemed to be weak,..i took her to the Vet and it appears she had Osteoporosis in the hips.

She developed a Polyp in her eye which caused an Ulcer and had an operation last week,..then went blind in that eye.

    She is now completely deaf.

Last month she had an operation to remove a lump on her side.

She became incontinent,..with medication it stopped for a short spell.

This morning i couldn't let her continue being in such a state despite her putting on a good show when near the river,..it really has not sunk in so i thought to post before it hits me,..Molly was 13 years old.

Molly in the last two days,

Oh, Philip, I am so sorry to hear this news. It will hurt but before you know it you will be able to think of her and the good times ....not without tears but without as much pain.

    Thank you,..Toni,..Islandlife,..Frank,..and Hank.

What a time!,..something i will never get used to,..my mind is all over the place,..if i try to get engrossed in something just to feel normal and managed to do so,..then of course i look back expecting to see Molly there,..alas no Molly,..i think i will have to get another dog quickly,..now its me that needs a walk,..plus a return to sanity.

Using my old computer just now as the Laptop wont connect to the Server,..problems come all at once.

Back to trying to do something to sort myself out,..thank you again,..just posting sort of helped,..i will look in again.

    Philip.
