You sound a really positive person and I am sure you will come through this. Good luck with giving up the ciggies. I'm sure your guardian angel will look after you. Sending hugs to you. GG
See how much faith we all have in you Glenda! We all know you can do it. My nan went throught the stent procedure last year and made a thorough recovery, and my autie has done the angioplasty procedure carried out and she is still working her allotment all year round. I smoked for only 15 or so years, but decided to quit when my blood pressure was frightenly high and we wanted to start a family. It was hard, and as both smokers, we couldn't do it at the same time as we would have killed each other, but it is so worth it. Not only are you going to be sooooo much healthier, you are going to smell yummy to and you will be amazed at how after a while, you regain a sense of smell you didn't know you had lost. Come on girl, we are all behind you sending you the biggest pile of cyber love ever.
Okay, Glenda! You will come through with flying colors and you will quit smoking! I know you can do it. Whenever you feel like one, just ring my phone and I'll talk you out of it. It's like going to AA. You are a strong person so you can do it just to show everyone you can. dooley
What an eye-opener to hear about the proposed procedures. It sounds like you have a good understanding of what they entail. I know they may make you feel uneasy about having them done, but the docs these days have got it down pat. It sounds like they have got a good plan worked out for you. The procedures themselves won´t take very long and you are going to feel alot better after they are done. The smoking in the other hand will perhaps be much more difficult to overcome...but absolutely not impossible. They say that the only way to quit smoking is first to make a commitment to yourself, then use every bit of determination that you have to just not light up another one. I believe that you see the necessity in giving up the cigs. Your friends on here and around you there at home wilkl support you all the way through this. I have quit smoking myself a number of years ago and know what it´s like. I also have a good friend that stopped smoking and joined the `club` at this web address-- http://www.quitnet.com/ They will help you and give you support to get through this. It worked for my friend and she has been off the cigs for two years now. Please think about giving it a try. Other thank my support at any time I can not offer much more than this web address. Hang tough and as I said, we all will be supporting you and will be here if you need to chat when you have weak moments. Most sincerely, Sjoerd
Everyone here is 100% behind you Glenda and we know you will have the determination and courage to give up smoking. Do as Dooley says and ring her when you feel like your going to weaken - that's what real friends are for. You'll come through your operations with flying colours I'm sure and will feel like a new woman afterwards. Just think of all the money you'll have to spend on things you want with the ciggie money you'll save. :-D
Glenda, I started smoking at the age of 14. I smoked through high school and 4 years in the Navy. I smoked Camels and can still taste them today. I quit in the middle of a cigarette and in the middle of a pack, which I threw in the garbage. I was then too cheap to buy another pack. They were ,25 a pack then. I would rather cut off my left arm than pay 5.00 a pack. But then, I am cheap. Stick with it lady; you have too many friends who love you. dr
I thank my many friends from the bottom of my heart.Stew Friends and all of my friends that are backing me everywhere. God Bless you all.
You can do it Glenda! You will feel so much better and you will have a much better sense of taste and smell. And you will live longer too...just think of your gorgeous grand babies when you want to light up.
Ohh Glenda, i'm so sorry to hear the health problems you are going thru now, but like i have read all the way thru this thread, we are all here for you. No matter what! Something of a garden nature here for helping to quit smoking, is lobelia. I have never used it, so i don't honestly know. But from what i have heard it is one of the strongest herbs that can be use as a sedative. Now your going to have surgury, i would ask my doc or find an herbalist and ask them. Don't jump right in with it. Research and find out from an expert! You never ever want to mix prescription drugs with herbal drugs,, no, siree, not a good thing to do. My daughter used the patch, bought at walmart, in the locked cabinet near the pharmacy. She said it worked, and only needed a few patches, and has never gone back. Good luck to you with your quitting, and we are all with you before, during and after the surgery. We all love you dear lady!
Thank you so much Biita.I will check into the patches.I have been trying to use Commit lozenges but they make me sick.I may use Nicorettes I will check with the Dr.first.The Drs. have tried to get me to get Chantix but lots of lawsuits are filed because of suicides on this one and its way to expensive for me.
I am so sorry you are going through this my friend...prayers that things work out for you sweetie. My heart starting jumping when I read it because in 2005 my husband had a cardiac arrest in the Detroit airport...I got a call when he was trying to be brought back...they jumped started him (as I call it) and I had about a 6 hour ride to Detroit from here not knowing if he would be alive when we got there..Two of my children drove me because the airport wouldn't let us on in such short notice... If it wouldn't of been for the CPR and the jump start, he wouldn't be here today or if it wouldn't of been for the CPR.... brain damage. He was down about 11 minutes... He had 4 stents put in and has been doing great...there was no warning ahead of time except for high blood pressure and he was being treated and I thank God every day that he wasn't in the rest room by himself or on the plane...he was in a restaurant getting a burger and a beer between flights..the gal in the restaurant AMY (our angel) did CPR and the other gal called and got help...without them, I know I would be alone...so please take care of yourself... You have to want to quit on your own...no one can just tell you too, I am sure you know that.....good luck and just think of my story if it helps you...
I'm so glad his Angels were there for him.I know you had a terrible ride to Detroit.I think I will be ok Sherry. With so many wonderful friends cheering me on how can it not be.Thank you so much and your story turned out great.
Thinking of you and wishing you well tomorrow, Oct. 2, when you have your stint put in. Prayers are already flying upward. dooley
