Awww, how awful. The not knowing is the worst part. Might she have got into a neighbours shed or barn and been locked in? Don't give up hope as she might still surprise you. Sending hugs too.
We had a neighbor boy looking for his cat a long time ago. It wasn't here, but as I walked across the lawn a week later the neighbor who moved shut the garage door and the cat was in there. I just happened to see it in the window, so I called the person who moved and he came right away and opened the garage. kitty was so happy to go home!
It is now 3+ weeks since Dolly vanished. We keep looking, asking, and hoping. Our neighbor behind us says she saw a coyote running across her neighbor's lawn early one morning recently. This is not a comforting thought. We are not too far from the eastern edge of our city, and there is a wooded biking trail just a 1/4 mile off. I suppose coyotes are near, we have seen foxes around here before. I just always thought Dolly would be too quick to be caught by any man or beast. I guess I don't want to know if she met that sort of fate. I am glad I gave her such a spoiled, pampered life as long as I did. Having pets usually means you have to see them go at some point. :'(
Thanks Sjoerd, I do miss the little silly kitty. She was a handful, but it feels quiet without her. Still have ol Chloe, she is a big fat lazy 13 years old. She has been acting rather clingy and meowing at us a lot since Dolly is gone. I guess we all feel sad, *sigh*
I'm so sorry....I hate this for you. It's very sad when a pet passes but you at least have closure. With something like this? It's difficult to get beyond and move on from, because there's always that hope. Wish there was something we could do.
Thanks for the encouragement Sjoerd, but, no Dolly. Just past 5 weeks now. I just feel that if she could come home, she would. Each time I go out walking, I watch for a glimpse of white. She is nowhere to be found. I tried another round of "lost" ads with no result. Guess I'll see her at the Rainbow Bridge.
