    My stars, hornbills! What a great sighting, and the photo is fine--gives us the outline of the birds, especially that fabulous beak. The variety of shapes, sizes, and colors of birds is fascinating. Thank you KK for giving us a glimpse of a bird we will never see locally.

    naturenanni - Your little Downy is sooo cute! Isn't it a treat to be able to see them up close?
    I would just love to give him a little pat on his downy little head!

    You are right Kay it is very tempting to want to pet him. But I am keeping my distance. I don't want him to get to trusting :)

    What a lovely to read thread. Stunning photos. I don't think we get that woodpecker down here, at least i haven't seen it.
    Hornbills? (Originally from Africa) Too cool, the Darwinian equivalent is Toucan in S. America. Always been fascinated with both.

    I think the little downy is so pretty and Eileen I love pretty little dove.
    It would be nice to have them not afraid of you.
