I am with KK, it is too hot here to go outside,I have to 'rush' to shopping mall and then dawdle around hoping it will be cool when it is time to leave.Definitely way too hot to garden.
Netty, My youngest son just came back from a missions trip to Haiti...He wasn't too excited to get here even though "there's no place like home" he said. It looks like the fore cast for late next week is warming up a bit. Hooray! I hope it does for you too.
A snowsquall watch has just been put in place for my area until about noon today. Just what we needed ... more snow! And here is the long range forecast for my area, changed to Fahrenheit as that is what most of you are used to *censored* weather forecast ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) So as you see, there really isn't much hope of spring anytime soon! GRRRRR!
So sorry for you Netty...come on down for the duration, if you want. I have 2 sleeper sofa's and a big living room floor.... It won't be much for gardening for a while though. I have apple tree's and grapes to prune. I haven't touched the grapes yet. They are supposed to be pruned in Feb. Ha! that was not happening! We could get something done out there, I am sure.
Tempting, very tempting Carolyn. I don't suppose you have a copy of YOUR long range forecast I could see before I decide?
Netty, if Ohio doesn't work out, come on down to Texas. We have a guest bedroom and the guest bath should be finished soon. There's lots of weeding to be done, and I need to get some more seed in the ground. Bed and board for only 10-12 hours of hard labor !
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.ph ... w9aTEPft0w Take your pick..Janes or here, although Lakewood is only about 40 minutes away so your girl/s could go ice skating at the rink where some of the olympians train.... Janes is 10-12 hours of hard labor I would give you free food, too and only 8-10 hours of labor (but not hard as there isn't much to do right now)
Thanks! Right now 10 hours of garden labour sounds like Heaven! Here is a video someone captured today, of one of the snow squalls that passed thru this area. It was responsible for a 95 car pile up on Hwy 400. http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/video?playlistId=1.1706452 The highway has been closed in both directions all day. They cut out a section of the guardrail to help get stranded motorists off the highway. They are also shuttling people off. What a mess!! *edited to add - the link has a quick advertisement to watch before you can actually see the squall
Time for some snow birding? A vacation to warmer/ cooler climates perhaps? House exchanges? If you want a quiet place in the rainy woods I know of a little place you could visit for a really cheap price.
Yesterdays snow squalls continued all day. DH had to keep plowing out the driveway so our daughter could get home. At one point the wind was blowing the snow so hard DH told me I had better make a trip out between squalls to get supplies before we got snowed in. The truck couldn't push the snow anymore ... it had no where to push it TO. We would have to wait until morning and use the walk behind blowers to get out. Since our driveway is almost 600 feet long, this is NOT a fun chore! Off I went to get gas and a few other things, just barely making it up our driveway in 4 wheel drive, but I MADE it! Come on Mother Nature ... really?? ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) We were just sitting down to dinner when we heard something above the howling winds. Looked outside and there was our savior, our neighbor with his blower! Now THAT'S a snowblower! ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) He did 2 trips up and down our driveway and blew out our parking area too. He has saved us SO much work this morning with shovels and our little blowers. I don't have a lot of neighbors, but they are great ones!
Ah, Netty, give a man a tractor and he'll be on it all day long! That is a kind and considerate neighbor you have, but I'd bet that he is on the receiving end of some kindness from you and your husband.
