Your collection is amazing, Theo! I don't want to count but there's well over 100 plants inside here. Not counting cuttings in water. Here's a peek of one window... ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden )
very good Cheryl :-D purpleinopp I love the picture with your plants in the house... are all amazing :-D :-D :-D :-D today carrying and other plants in the house :-D Ananas comosus Acanthorhipsalis monacantha Rhipsalis paradoxa Rhipsalis elliptica Rhipsalis cassutha Rhipsalis pilocarpa Rhoeo spathacea
Excuse me if I'm just forgetting something that has already been said but I am curious if you have had a frost yet, Theo? And did you try to bring these plants inside in order of their sensitivity to cold? Is that how you decided which bunch to bring in first... to last? A few of mine came in about 2 weeks before the others since they started to seem unhappy, which I attributed to some colder nights in the 40's. I wish I had done it more gradually like you did, and wonder if some of them would have been happy staying out since our lowest temp so far has been about 33. As an interesting gauge, Coleus in the ground is all dead but a few still in pots on the front porch (covered but open, about 3 feet above the ground) are fine, no frostbite at all yet. It's funny the little things that will fool Jack Frost.
thank you very very much Kay :-D purpleinopp the island where I live has too much moisture, the leaves in the morning is always wet when the temperature drops too low then the destruction is great,, the liquid freezes and destroys leaves, here on the island in winter temperatures for long periods is more than 40 ° F, but sometimes descends to 32 ° F..A few days ago the temperature was 36 ° F destroyed the leaves from the Brugmansias.. last winter the temperature reached 24 ° F, this is very rare on the island, destroyed orange tree, trees lemons, lots of vegetables, flowers, from many people who live on the island,, and of course many plants from my collection :-? and by the way trying to protect many plants :-D What I understand purpleinopp is that the winter we lose some plants from very cold period, and in the summer we lose some plants from the warm period :-?
That sounds really nice. I've always wanted to visit Greece and now I want to even more! Thanks for telling me about your temps in F. You must measure both ways. This Callisia fragrans is going nuts with flower stalks. Glad it's in a hanging basket! arrows are pointing to flower stalks on Callisia fragrans ( photo / image / picture from purpleinopp's Garden )
delighted purpleinopp that the plant Callisia fragrans will soon be filled with flowers :-D :-D :-D today I put in the last house plants,, hope to get through the winter without problems :-D Adiantum Begonia Crossandra infundibuliformis Rhipsalis cereoides Schefflera actinophylla Stephanotis floribunda Hoya linearis one more Rhoeo spathacea Barringtonia acutangula Plectranthus verticillatus Rhipsalis Campos-portoana
Wow! I'm in awe of your collection! Thanks for sharing these wonderful plants. I've never seen a lot of them before. More wow!
I only have 6 plants inside, don't have room for a whole lot. I am trying to regrow a couple of Calla Lilies, a poinsetta, 2 Amaryllis, a Mother-in-law's tongue and I had to throw away a poinsetta that died on me. You have a whole lot more than I do, my hubby would move me out to the car if I brought home any more, hee, hee!
