Great looking harvest KK... so sorry your papaya didn't live up to your expectations. But you must be proud all the same!
Thanks Cherylad, you are so kind. Yes I'm proud of the very healthy tree but not that fruit that fell. Now I am depending on the next fruit to ripen and picking it off the plant instead of from the ground. I am sure they are tasty! I guess the first fruit was premature.
The excitement of getting the real taste of my papaya is starting again. Just yesterday I noticed that one of the fruits is turning yellow and today it is almost completely yellow. It's ripening on the tree! ( photo / image / picture from KK Ng's Garden ) Looks like this time I am going to pick it off the tree instead of from the ground. Oops, I just remembered that birds love ripe papaya, OK I guess I'll have to keep a vigilant tomorrow so that I'll get at it first before the birds.
Good morning, looking good, in fact looking VERY GOOD. There are a few other fruit there that look good too, quite a good crop, you should be proud of the result.
Every morning before breakfast I would take a walk in my mini-farm just to look at the plants. This morning is a little more special, for the birds too I think because a couple were already there eyeing at the same thing I was going after! Almost a beauty ( photo / image / picture from KK Ng's Garden ) Yes! I got it and it looks real good. Nice ( photo / image / picture from KK Ng's Garden ) Becky had it skinned and cut into halves to see how the inside is before cubing it and chilling it for lunch. ???? ( photo / image / picture from KK Ng's Garden ) It was slightly bruised at the end where the stalk was and it seems to have fermented slightly. Anyway that part was send to the compost pile. Yummie!! ( photo / image / picture from KK Ng's Garden ) I was expecting the worst after having a tastless experience with the first one so I did not had any expectation for this one. I forked a piece and put it in my mouth...WHOA!!! It is really yummie!!! Yes full of flavour, sweet and the almost perfect texture ... WOW!!! Just can't wait to get at the next one now. Cherlylad, I got it first ... honestly I wanted to sneak out last night to get it!! Chocolate, thank you and it tasted as VERY GOOD as it is looking VERY GOOD! Now I can really say I am really proud of it and the tree is still shorter than me! Thanks Cayuga Morning, I can't wait for the next one to rippen. Sojerd I thought of you with every mouthful of the papaya!!
The color is beautiful. I'm so glad for you that it was as good as the other one was bad, though. We can't grow them here, so I don't know what a good one should taste like. I think they are picked green and shipped in and you all know that isn't the way to eat any fruit, except pears, that I know of.
Well done KK, dont forget in your euphoric tasting phase....that the seeds will grow really easily and you can have more beautiful fruit!
Thank Cayuga Morning, I am totally satisfied and will be saving seeds for the next planting. Thanks Cherylad, looks like we did it!! Carolyn if you are coming this way be sure to let me know and I will keep one just for you ripe on the tree for you to pick even if it means I have to sit infront of it to keep the birds away Thanks! Sojerd, thanks. Chocolate I am jumping with joy too ... yes I am already planing to save the seeds from the best fruit of the bunch.
